October 2023: The Patent of IcyEye^® Technology Was Granted in India

 

With the support of the NIH SBIR Phase II Award from NIH NEI, CryoCrate LLC nationalized the PCT filing of the IcyEye^® technology in multiple countries or regions in 2020. The goal was to secure the IP protection in the global market for corneal transplantation. In 2023, India granted the patent. This novel ground-breaking corneal cryopreservation technology will enable over 20,000 extra corneas collected in US per year to be safely stored in regular deep freezers, instead of liquid nitrogen facilities, and shipped in dry ice boxes to India and other international countries, to facilitate efficient transplantation of thawed corneas with functioning endothelium cells to restore visions of patients in those countries that don’t have tissue procurement organizations.
